Dental Implant Mini Residency Prosthetic Program (Hands-on)
Session 1: September 11-13, 2020

Day 1: Friday, September 11

A review of dental implants, components, and glossary of terms.

- Implant design, surface treatments, thread design, connections
- Evalutation of patients and treatment planning: Identifying the patients' expectations, medical and dental history, radiology, CBCT, study models, identification and classification of soft and hard tissue deficiencies, dental photography, informed consent and charting (documentation)

Day 2: Saturday, September 12

A review of:

  • Anatomy as it relates to dental implant surgery
  • Bone and soft tissue histology as it relates to implant integration wound healing
  • Spacial parameters of implant positioning for ideal esthetician's and function
  • Treatment planning cases: Single unit, multiple missing teeth, full arch
  • Surgical treatment and follow-up Instrumentation, flap design
  • Suturing and suturing techniques: HANDS-ON: Osteotomy, implant placement
  • Post-op care and complication

Day 3: Sunday, September 13

- Model surgery
- Guided tissue regeneration and socket preservation
- Immediate implant placement

Session 2: October 2-4, 2020

Day 1: Friday, October 2

Technology as it applies to implant dentistry treatment planning, surgical delivery and restoration:

  • CBCT, virtual planning software, case presentation, surgical guides

Day 2: Saturday, October 3

- Impression techniques: Open-tray and closed-tray
- Digital imaging: HANDS-ON
- Abutment options/lab prescriptions: HANDS-ON
- Screw-retinae vs cemetation: HANDS-ON

Day 3: Sunday, October 4

- Immediate implants
- Overdentures: Bars, locators
HANDS-ON:

Long term follow-up and maintenance and management of complications and record keeping
